CNN.com - Court sides with church on hallucinogenic tea - Feb 21, 2006

Believe me, I'm not complaining. I actually think they probably got this one right. HOWEVER...I would argue that a person's right to aleviate the devestating physical effects of chemotherapy or glaucoma should be at LEAST as valid as a person's right to worship Deity in whatever method their religion sees fit. When someome drinks strychnine and handles venomous snakes, they're excersizing their religious freedom to potentially kill themselves. How can that be so much different than some poor woman with breast cancer who probably has a 5 year survival window if she's lucky wanting to smoke a joint every day so she can actually keep food down?

Just a question.

I wonder if they will allow the Native American Church to use peyote now?

Let's start a pot-smoker's religion and invite the sick -- "pot smoking will ease your pain". If it worked for L. Ron Hubbard, it can work for us.
