I think Joel might be proud

I was driving in to work yesterday, listening to 99.9 The Wolf, a mix of classic and modern country station that I actually kind of like. They have one of those Morning Drive teams of DJs that try and amuse us on our commute into work. Sometimes I listen, sometimes I turn the sound down between the music. Well they were giving away tickets to Disney on Ice so I was listening. Aidan would just love Disney on Ice. LOL They usually pick a couple stories from the news and have folks call in their opinions on them. When Kenney Chesney and Rene Zelllwigger got the annullment they subtly insinuated that the general concensus of opinion seemed to be that Kenny was gay and that was the fraud involved. I turned the sound down because I really didn't want to listen to a bunch of gay bashing.

Well yesterday the story they picked was about a 60-ish woman who lived with her husband in one of those "Hoarder Houses". You've seen them. Boxes and bags piled to the ceiling, newspapers and magazines from 1963 on every surface. Well, the poor husband noticed that his wife was missing one day and called the police. They searched through the house for about 10 hours and finally found her suffocated under a pile of rubbish. And the "god that is so gross how can those people live like that" calls started coming in. But for some reason yesterday, I just didn't turn the sound down. I picked up my trusty cell phone and I dialed. And they answered. And I said "Hi I'm was listening to that dirty house story" and they were quite excited to hear from me. Then I said "You know that's a form of OCD, right?" Silence on the other end. Then lots of "Wow! you mean they can't help it?" and that kind of thing. I answered their questions, telling them it's actually an anxiety disorder, it's treatable if diagnosed, etc. After the commercial break, they play my little snippet and nothing more was said of it.

I certainly don't deserve a medal from NAMI or anything but, I'm kind of pleased with myself that I actually said something. It probably didn't change anything or anyone's opinion of anything, but hey. It's better than nothing, right? :D
