The devil does not speak to children through chocolate! Nor do I believe the devil exists at all, but if he did, don't you think he'd find them somewhere they're sure to be, like school? Ok, sweetheart, chill out. That goofy thing has made the rounds of all the pagan mailing lists. It's a joke mail the best we can figure out. It's not something that any of us take seriously. We just tend to ignore it.
Ok, ya, that one joke mail thing, i qualify as a goth, because their are like 36 points in their, and i constantly do 28 of them. I would say, probably about 99% of the population is gothic if that were true.
But yes, thos problem with the court system is horrible. I think that people should understand that wicca is a religion, just like any other one. How would people start feeling if we started to bash Christians or Jews (not say I would or anything) but they have to understand that people do worship differant things and they should learn to accept it!

I find it pathetic how people can't accept people for what they truly believe. I myself get harassed in schools because I practice wicca.
I ever tried to get people to understand it better. I did a project on it in my Christian Ethics class (yes, I am a senior in a christian high school) and the people in my CE class understood it and began to accept it. Though that was only about 30 people out of the entire 800 students in my school.
I just wish that people would stop making assumptions that I worship the devil and that I beleive that everyone who doesn't beleive in what I beleive will go to hell. Ya, hello, I don't beleive in Hevan or Hell. I beleive in a summerland where we wait to be judged and reincarnated.
Though sadly, there will always be discrimination in the world, and there is very little that we can do.

Ok, I completly understand where everyone is coming from.
I have this site up where I have actually admited to being Wiccan, and of course i stuck in a guestbook. But ever since that happened, I keep getting hate messages. People keep not only me, but some of my friends as well. On my site, i put a picture of a few of my frineds during Samhain where we had all coincidently *spelling?* dressed up in witch costumes. We took a picture of everyone in the feild behind our school and i put it up. I really just think it is disgusting how people can't accept people for what they beleive in and for what they look like.
But anyway, that artical is very horrible. I mean, i thought we were making progress in this new age of ours! Argh!! I really hope people start to wise up on how to treat people who beleive in somthing differant. Goddess, i really can't beleive how badly things have gotten... next thing you know, they are going to start up again with the Salem Witch burnings again... goddess, i don't want our religion to go through that again...

I am one of the many people who practice satanism, but unlike you other people, i am accepted at my school because i scare the living shit outta people. but i have also started a movement against discrimination in my school and it worked. they now accept it as a true religion like cristianity. you just have to give them the facts about your religion and theyll most likely leave you alone or respect you for your decisions.

Unfortunately at 15, society (i.e, the government) still decides what is or is not appropriate for her, if she is not under her parents guardianship.
When the young lady turns 18, she can then ask the Court to intervene, and they will then have the juristiction to do so. That is the way it is today, and we will change it if we can, but under our system of government that takes time and effort.
Wicca, www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.htm has come a long way, and still has road blocks to overcome, but the teaching of the Goddess can not be ignored forever, now that the church can know longer silence us.
Are we allowed to donate books to her?
Oh, by the way. The devil is a christian concept, and Wiccans do not belive in the devil. Evil we do belive in, but that is an individuals choice (unless there is organic mental illness), and only an irresponsible and ignorant person does evil.
Wiccans are supposed to strive to creat win-win situation when dealing with other people and/or creatures.

It just makes me want to cry. I have been practicing for 12 years as a solitary and I see things till havent changed. When I was in High school I was taken aside by a teacher who refused to tough me and she asked me if I was a devil worshipper. I politely explained what wicca was and what it stood for. That same day I was called down to the office because the teacher was so uncomfortable with me that she raised (excuse the saying) hell about how she was NOT going to have a witch in her classroom. Insted of fighting it (which I could have) I opted out of her class because I couldnt take the backlash that was sure to come. I have been beated, cursed at spit at, and broken up with (ex fiancee) because people cant deal with what I am. I now have three boys who I worry about every second they go out the door because they are now going through what I have because I am a practicing witch. They are not into the religon because I feel its their choice to be in it and they are not old enough to choose. I hope against hope that one day the christian right will learn to read their propagande ( i mean bible) and reliese it says love thy neighbor, not beat and shun them.

Ignorance is not as trifling a thing as people assume. Everyone discriminates. Its easy to catch others in the act, but if you pay attention, you'll find that you also judge people, no matter what your claims are. I'm wiccan, and I face discrimination in my small town predominantly cristian school. but it is my personal opinion that people will think what they want and law is the only thing stopping them from acting on their opinions. just let it go and turn the other cheek, escalation only leads to heartbreak

I have a friend that is gay and a wiccan. They have been through everything from shunning to exorcism when they were never possessed in the first place. The parents of this person subjected him to various religious "projects". The exorcism was the worst because it traumatized him the most. He had bibles thrown at him and he just sat there asking "Why are we going through this? Do you HAVE to leave bruises on me?" - it stopped when he shut up and began crysing because what the preachers was doing PHYSICALLY HURT - not like there was something on the inside trying to come out at all!
This really happens, people. I see the cruelty as being equivalent to a person whipping a Hindu until they bleed to become a christian - do it or die sort of threats... Because when its the mother and father doing this to a child ESPECIALLY when they are old enough to leave (20) and holding them back by taking their money and their freedom..... I see it as cruel. This person couldn't take it any longer and decided that because they couldn't get out of the house, they would try suicide before seeing 21.
People don't want to think about this but, it happens too often! The situation repeats and I want to say that grand scale terrorism is NOT new to America - if you cannot even have the freedom to be yourself, then what is the point?

I am from Kansas and I understand what she is going through. Hoisington and other small communities have trouble here accepting anything that is not god related. Heck, besides the wicca callout at the prision here it is hard to find others of like mind where I live. I feel for her. There is nothing harder for a teen than to be ignored and misunderstood.
I can't belive this!!! I'm writing to them ASAP. This kind of discrimination should NOT be allowed! I'm involved in Amnesty International at my school and I'm going to try and get some of the other members to help me out.

hey guys, I'm a girl of 18 and I believe wicca is a very beautiful religion. I live in the bible belt and it's hard to talk to anyone about it, except a few of my friends.
Why would God judge good intentions about magick? yes, it's an independent practice(christians believe you should be ONLY dependent in him because it brings you closer to god) but as long as you include God in your practice and in your life, what's the harm?
I'm saying this(about God)to aviod Hell, because what if there was one. We don't know so we join christians just incase if there is such a spiteful physical place. I think that's what it is with people.
God wants us to be content with our selves and to know what's right.
I'm not in a full relation ship with god, because I'm surrounded by preacher rednecks and the way they preach makes me feel funny. I don't think the funnieness is connected with negativity, but I guess CHURCH doesn't fit my personality. The church I seldom go to is a church that respects who you are( what you dress,your personality) but I strongly doubt they accept good intentions in magick. Obviously ALL churches of God do and forever will they deny good hearted magick.
It's not like I want to:
-Harm someone
-KILL
-control people
-control the weather
-make someone love me
-make myself a god or be higher than anyone else.
-to cheat
-worship the devil(which he COULD exist just like I said the thing about hell)

i wear black clothes sometimes, i'm a wiccan, and listen to rock/metal!, i wear band t-shirts, and i also listen to "goth" music (the actual term for some gothic music is "symphonic metal" because of the female singer (ex: nightwish)), i like to be alone because i'm a teenager and i like sleeping too...cus sleeping means i get to dream, black nail polish means NOTHING!, complaining about boredome is bad...?, cable tv...realy...., internet= music people!, RPG games arent bad either(call the preists/rabbi or something! i like role playing games), and i support bi/gay people! i even joined a day of silence for gay rights thing at school!!, and countchocula...realy people....REALY?!?! Those all problems with the court and the system are terrible. Still, you think you have it hard? Try to live a peaceful Wiccan life in a country that does not yet legally recognizes Wicca as religion. That's right. I'm a Mexican and I live in Mexico City; I have to be extra careful, because if I ever have any problem because of my religion, I have no backup. In Mexico not only most people ignores what Wicca is, but the goverment does not recognizes is as an official religion, so basically, we're not considered here. Sure, our laws forbid too any kind of religous discrimination, but how could we appeal to that if we are not even considered a religion? So far I haven't had any problem with anyone, but I always wonder, what if I ever do?
